Duke Street Traffic Control Boxes in Alexandria Wrapped in Art

The City of Alexandria, Virginia invited artists and artist teams living and working in Virginia, Maryland, District of Columbia, West Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina and Tennessee to submit their  qualifications for a Traffic Control Box Vinyl Wrap Public Art Project for 12 traffic control boxes located at intersections along Duke Street in Alexandria.

This past weekend 12 traffic boxes along Duke Street were vinyl wrapped in original art. See the example above.

Two artists and one artist team were selected to create four original designs to cover all four sides and the top of each box.

The public is invited to an artist reception for the traffic control box wraps from noon – 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 17 at Luckett Field, 3540 Wheeler Ave.
