First ALDI Food Market Opening in Alexandria December 17

As we told you first some time ago, on Thursday, Dec. 17, ALDI, one of Americaโ€™s top three favorite grocery stores*, will offer shoppers a smarter alternative as it opens its first store in the City limits, located at 4602 Kenmore Avenue in the Seminary Hill neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia. The store is taking over the old Macgruder’s space in the Seminary Plaza Shopping Center.

With nearly 1,500 stores in 32 states, ALDI is known for high-quality grocery items at incredibly low prices. As part of the Grand Opening celebration, the first 100 shoppers in line will receive golden tickets, with each ticket containing an ALDI gift certificate of a different value.

This is actually the SECOND Aldi in Alexandria. There is another on the Route 1 Corridor near the South County Center

    • Colin – Is that the one on Backlick Road? That is in Springfield, Virginia which belongs to Fairfax County.

    • Or the one on Route 1? That’s in Fairfax County, NOT Alexandria. Alexandria postal code only.

Regardless. The area that our Aldis resides in still ships as Alexandria, Va. Therefore is the first standing Aldis in Alexandria. You might want to change your title to prevent further miscommunication

        • Sorry, not changing the title. I did however, change the first paragraph so that it emphasizes first store in City limits. Richmond Highway store is located in Fairfax County.

But do we really need 3 of them in the City? 1 is enough. I wish they would have made the other 2 into Trader Joe’s.

    • MM –

Especially with the 2 ALDI’s relatively so close together on Duke Street and this one on Kenmore Avenue.
