Jerry Crasnick of ESPN reports this morning that the Nationals are about to make a roster move involving embattled former closer Jonathan Papelbon.

The only scenario that seems likely is that they are getting ready to release the 35-year-old right-hander. This makes sense given the recent acquisition of Mark Melancon from the Pirates. Papelbon, who lost his closer’s job upon the acquisition of Mark Melancon, owns a 4.37 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 31/14 K/BB ratio through 35 innings on the season.

Nationals fans, what do you think about this?
