George Washington’s Tenement House in Alexandria, Virginia #PresidentsDay

This historic house on the south side of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia was built by George Washington in 1797 as a tenement house and an investment and then willed to Martha Washington upon his death. The History Channel has a good page on tenement housing at this link which leads me to wonder whether or not this was one of the first tenement houses in the U.S.

The things I love about this house is the homage they pay to Mr. Washington (see plaque below), the overall color of the house, the garden (one of the best in Old Town IMHO), and the little porch area in the front of the house.
