The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for Alexandria, Virginia and the surrounding area starting TONIGHT (December 31, 2018) at 9:00 PM and running through 9:00 AM Monday, January 1, 2018. A Wind Chill Advisory is issued when wind chills are expected to drop the temperature below zero degrees and an active frostbite condition exists. Be sure to bundle up for First Night Alexandria!

* WHAT…Very cold wind chills expected. The cold wind chills will cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin.
Expect wind chills of 5 to 10 degrees below zero.
* WHERE…Northern and central Virginia and central and southern Maryland including Baltimore and Washington DC.
* WHEN…From 9 PM this evening to 9 AM EST Monday.
A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will combine to create low wind chills. Frost bite and hypothermia can occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
