Holy See Names St. Mary’s in Old Town a ‘Basilica’ The Vatican issued a decree granting St. Mary Catholic Church in Alexandria, the title ‘minor basilica,’ making it the first basilica in Northern Virginia, the first in the Catholic Diocese of Arlington and the 84thin the United States. The 223-year-old Roman Catholic Church will officially be named “The Basilica of Saint Mary.” (Catholic Herald)

Potomac School Rallies Past St. Stephens in Thriller Potomac School began its game with host St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes on Saturday on an impressive 9-2 run with guard Mike Grimes on fire from outside. That run didn’t hold up for long, but another 9-2 run much later did as the Panthers registered an impressive 66-64 comeback victory over the Saints. (NoVAHoops)
