A new Dunkin Donuts is planned for the new National Science Foundation (NSF) Headquarters building in the Eisenhower East neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia. The 1,188-square-foot retail store is proposed at 2415 Eisenhower Avenue, according to documents filed with Alexandria’s Planning & Zoning Department (PDF).
The new store joins a large new CVS next door on the corner of the same building which is opening very soon. This new Dunkin Donuts store joins the Carlyle store nearby as well as the Upper King Street store over by King Street Metro.
The new Dunkin Donuts looks to be open from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM seven (7) days a week and plans to have indoor seating for eight (8).
Dunkin Donuts, with corporate offices in Canton, Massachusetts, is one of the fastest growing franchise operations.
The donut chain started in 1948 in Quincy, Massachusetts, as the “Open Kettle.” It sold coffee for 10 cents a cup. In 1950, owner Bill Rosenburg changed the name to Dunkin Donuts.
The company claims almost 11,000 stores in 33 countries serving more than 5 million customers per day. Dunkin Donuts sells an estimated 1.8 billion cups of coffee annually.
The famed donut shop features more than 70 varieties of donuts and also a number of signature sandwiches.
