The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued the following Flood Warning for Alexandria, Virginia and the surrounding area from NOW until 1:15 AM late tonight (Tuesday, May 15, 2018).

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Flood Warning for Urban Areas and Small Streams in...
  Arlington County in northern Virginia...
  The City of Falls Church in northern Virginia...
  Northeastern Fairfax County in northern Virginia...
  The City of Alexandria in northern Virginia...

* Until 115 AM EDT.

* At 909 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain which will cause flooding. Up to one inch of rain has
  already fallen.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include...
  Arlington, Alexandria, Annandale, Springfield, Vienna, Groveton,
  Falls Church, Huntington, Mantua, Pimmit Hills, National Harbor,
  Mclean, Burke, Oakton, Lincolnia, Tysons Corner, Franconia, Wolf
  Trap, Hybla Valley and Merrifield.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
